The clearest way to explain what Scribemark does with your writing is to follow one document through its whole life — from the moment you tap new to the moment it stops existing. Everything that could be called data handling happens somewhere along that line.
Nothing is requested and nothing is sent. There is no sign-in screen, no "continue with" button, no anonymous identifier minted in the background to count you as a returning user. The app does not hold the INTERNET permission, so the first thing many editors do — phone home on launch — is not something this one is capable of.
The library appears with your most recent document in front. That list was read from a folder on your phone that no other application can open.
Your keystrokes go into an editor buffer in memory and nowhere else. Markdown is parsed on the device to draw the live preview; no text is sent anywhere to be rendered, checked, corrected or suggested against. There is no cloud spellcheck, no completion model, and no telemetry counting characters.
What you write is therefore visible to exactly one party: you, on that phone.
A moment after you stop typing, the document is written to the app's private storage area. Android grants each application a folder that other applications cannot read, and that is where the whole library lives:
None of it leaves the folder. There is no backup on our side, which also means there is no recovery from us if the folder goes: the trade for privacy is that the copy on your phone is the real one.
Export writes a .md or .html file through Android's own share and save dialogue. From that point the file is in your hands and under the rules of wherever you put it — your downloads folder, a messaging app, a drive service you happen to use. We are not part of that step and cannot see where it went.
Deleting a document in the library removes it from the folder. Since no copy was ever made anywhere else, that is the end of it — there is no second deletion to request from us, and no retention window quietly ticking down on a server.
Android removes the private folder along with the application, which takes the entire library, the statistics and the settings with it. Files you exported earlier are unaffected, because they were never ours to begin with. Clearing the app's data from Android Settings does the same thing without removing the app.

The application declares none. No internet, no location, no contacts, no camera, no microphone, and no access to shared storage beyond the file you actively choose to write during an export.
There are no advertising networks, analytics libraries, crash reporters or cloud services linked into the build. Nobody receives anything, because nothing is transmitted.
Scribemark is a writing tool suitable at any age. As it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children, and it contains no chat, profile or upload through which a child could disclose anything.
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you may ask for access to your personal data, its correction or erasure, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing. We will reply within one month. The reply will say that we hold nothing about you — a consequence of the design described above rather than a policy that could later be revised quietly. Complaints go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
If a future release adds anything that touches the lifecycle above — synchronisation, an account, a crash reporter — this page is rewritten and re-dated before that release goes to Google Play. The copy already installed on your phone continues to behave as described here.
